Flat Plate Solar Water Heater
Working Principle
The working principle of the flat plate solar water heater is very simple. Broadly speaking, after passing through the transparent cover, the sunlight irradiates on the heat absorber whose outer surface is covered with an absorbing coating. Most of the solar radiation is absorbed by the absorber and then converted into heat energy, flowing to the fluid passage. Therefore, the cold fluid entering from collector bottom is heated by the solar energy and its temperature gradually rises. The heated fluid with useful heat energy enters into water storage tank. Meanwhile, the hot absorber dissipates heat through the transparent cover and shell, forming heat loss of flat plate solar water heater.
Advantages
Taking overall shape, structural strength and sizes into consideration, the flat plate solar collector can perfectly integrate into any buildings. It is often directly fastened to a roof or a wall facing the sun, in order to heat water using solar energy. In general, the effective aperture area of a solar collector determines the amount of solar energy it obtains. The larger the effective aperture area, the more the solar energy will be obtained, or vice versa. As the effective aperture area of flat plate solar collectors is always larger than that of vacuum plate solar collector, so you can get more solar energy to heat water by using a flat plate solar water heater.
